Synopsis

Some say fate holds the cards. But what if love deals the hand? No love goes untested. Ever. Indeed, true love is left to prove itself. And that is exactly where fate steps in to play the game.

For William and Sarah, that game begins with growing up, in the unspoiled mountains of Colorado. In a time and space as clear as the Rocky Mountain skies above, these young souls together learn about life, what matters most, what endures, what doesn’t, and about love. Innocent young love moves ever so surely toward lives they both can picture, lives spent loving each other in a place they know so well and cherish.

Will and Sarah are ecstatically swept away in the swells of new love. And it is in their rarefied bliss that they make the fragile promise of first love, a promise that fate will soon rock and pound into doubt, guilt, and epiphany.

Unexpected and unprepared, these young lovers are suddenly torn apart, first by distance, and then by the far greater pressures of temptation that test the very fidelity of their heart-held promise. No longer able to console each other, hold each other, touch each other, they face the inevitable decision: move on to other loves, or cling to the faith that they will someday be together, again.
Will and Sarah stare down an unknown path, sensing destiny will not wait long before it comes to take them. Wracked with doubt, they wonder if their love was real. Caged by guilt, they both feel tempted by others intent on stealing their hearts.

Fate plays hardest when love is tested. And Will and Sarah are no exception, letting go of their happy past to embrace hope for an uncharted future. Love plays hardest when fate tests. And so it is, even through their trials of the heart, Will and Sarah never really stop loving each other. Theirs is a love so real and pure that each just wants the other to find happiness, even if it's with another.

But fate does not surrender so easily. Dealing blow upon blow, both Will and Sarah are each struck by jolting events that take them to the very edge of life, itself.

Sarah and Will hold tightly to their past, but steadfast promises begin to wane. Life continues, filled with romance, drama, and two souls yearning to understand the challenges brought with coming of age, and learning that fate is ultimately in control. What happens to love when life is on the line? Can they both relinquish control when love is on the line? Will fate even allow them to find out?

My Review

Sarah and Will have know each other since they were babies. their families do everything together, eat, spend time. In the small town where they live times are hard and families are struggling to stay afloat. The only people who are staying afloat are the Thornton's who own the lumber yard. Their daughter Margaret is the same age as Sarah and Will.

As Will and Sarah get a bit older their feeling start changing towards one another. And they declare their love for each other, promising to spend the rest of there lives together. Will even carves a symbol into a tree truck.

But fate steps in the way, when Sarah's Dad loses his farm and gets a job thousands of miles away. They move to California to work for Oscar. Oscar and Ellie have a farm and a son Adley the same age as Sarah.

With chores to be done Sarah and Adley spend a lot of time together growing closer as time goes on. Mean while Will is spending a lot of time with Margaret and they grow closer. Until fates steps in and a chain of events start happening.

I was hooked reading this story. It was so compelling I couldn't put it down. Its a story of sweet love and decisions. I loved Sarah and Will, and Adley. But Margaret is one of those girls you just want to shout at. Jacelyn  does a great job of extracting these emotions out of you. There wasn't any part of the book I hated, apart from it finishing. The descriptions and storyline is prefect I could picture everything Jacelyn was setting out.

Jacelyn, This book is amazing Thank you for letting me read an Arc copy. I cant wait to read shattered by Fate.

Quintals Return By Nadine Christian

Synopsis

Hotelier Kate Quintal and her sister Jen are hired to run a new luxury hotel on Pitcairn Island. Anticipating only the hard work that running the new facility would entail, a burgeoning romance with the burly and handsome Bryce Brown is the last thing she expected. With a new love and the success of the island’s new tourism endeavour, life seems sweet.

So, why are things suddenly falling apart? Who is trying to sabotage the hotel, and why? Kate finds herself fighting, not only for her job, or her heart…but her life.

My Review

Kate and Jen lived all their lives in New Zealand, her parents are from Pitcairn. They have both worked  in the hotel industry. So when they both get accepted for a new hotel that's opening on Pitcairn its a new start for both girls.

The whole island has come together helping from building to finishes. Some aren't happy the girls have turned up to take over jobs that should be for the islanders. The girls are met by longboat, and when Kate nearly falls in the sea she meets Bryce the Captain of the boat, he's not happy and lets her know. Once they get to shore Kate and Bryce cant stop staring at each other. Its instant attraction.

Once the girls get on the island and get settled into making the hotel ready for the up coming guests who are either going to make or break the hotel and the lives of the people of Pitcairn.  Bryce takes the girls to the home of what used to be their parents. And what a state its in, but again the islanders come together and help get it habitable.

When the hotel opens its going really well until things start going terribly wrong. Can Kate get everything back to normal before the whole island is affected.

I loved this book. Nadine paints a picture of the island that makes you want to go and visit. This sounds like the type of place you can go to and get total peace and quiet. Some where people know your business but would give you their last anything and come together in times of need. You can almost picture you being there.

I loved Kate and Jen. And Bryce. Girls brace yourselves their is a new hot book boyfriend on the block. As I said Nadine paints a picture you would be happy looking at and Bryce is one of those pictures you'd be happy looking at.

This book kept me hooked I was enthralled. I couldn't  put it down till I finished. I oohed and arhhed  and OMG all the way through. if this had been a film I would of been watching through my fingers.

Girls this is another one for the "TBR" list.

I give this 5/5 Stars and 3/5 for movie moments.

Nadine was kind enough to answer a few questions I had about the book

Where did you get the idea for this book?
The idea for the book is really a dream for the island. We've no hotel or airport here -- so the only way on or off the island is by supply ship or chancing a long yacht trip.   Any visitors that come to the island are housed via homestay, so we all know how to look after guests -- I just wondered what it would be like to have a big formal place for them to stay, and a better way to travel! *grin*

Who was your favourite character?.  I loved Kate
Kate and Jen were fun to write. Jen the most. She's such a foolio. The third book of the season -- Quintal's Quandary centers on her and I had so much fun finishing her story!

What was your favourite scene to write?
Aha! The scene with Celia, Kate and Bryce.  I love bringing up the tension and getting nasty! LOL

Are we going to read about Felix and Jen?
I think I said too much already...Mwahahahahahaha!

Whats next?
Coming in November is the second in the series -- Home Again, Home Again.

Home for Tina means family, Pitcairn Island and a job as an aircraft engineer. She's not looking for love so when pilot Blane Solis sweeps her off her feet, she is soon flying into the heady slipstream of romance...but, is he the one for her?

Tina's childhood sweetheart Connor Brown doesn't thing so. What dark secret is Blane hiding, and why is he hell bent on ensuring Tina doesn't find out? And can Tina ever forgive Connor for what he did so many years ago?

One heart. Two men. A shattered past and an unsure future...with love on the line.

Excerpt
I washed up and had just enough time to tug on a clean tank and thong and then climbed back into bed. I heard his footsteps. Excitement and relief washed through me. A small part of me feared he might have changed his mind, but my insecurity vanished the second his chiseled face appeared from the darkness.
His shirt hung open. He folded his arms across his chest and casually leaned against the wall, studying me like the MRI images he methodically memorized before each surgery.
“You moved?” His lips parted into a half grin, and he shook his head disapprovingly.
“You took too long.”
“You put clothes on.”
“You might need some new clothes.” I smiled.
“You’re fucking beautiful.”
Speechless.

About the Authors

Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!
We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.
It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.
So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).
When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.
Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?
Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.
So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Excerpt from Chapter 1
"Why don't you tell us about the box?" Cole said, her voice calm and steady despite the marionette-like stare of Mr. Edwards.
"It's my box." He repeated.
"Fine. Alright. It's your box. I just want to know more about it, like the carvings. Do you know what they are?"
Mr. Edwards cocked his head and squinted at the younger sister. "Carvings are something made by cutting wood. An object or design formed by cutting and shaping a material such as wood or stone—"
Kaylyn had heard enough, but as soon as she took a step forward, Cole glared at her.
"The guy has gone dark. His power ring has faded." She kept her jaw clenched, wondering how much—if any—of the conversation the man actually understood by now. "Let's just grab the jewels and get out before his head explodes."
"There are no explosive devices in my head, Kaylyn."
She bit her lip, she certainly hadn't offered her name. "Okay, Mr. Edwards—"
"Gib."
"Sure….” She choked on her words as the man's lips turned up into what she assumed was supposed to be a smile. “Gib, what's going on here?"
"You’re trying to take my box."
"Yeah," Kaylyn nodded. This conversation was getting redundant fast. "We got that part. We're quick like that, you know."
"I do know. You thought you could find my box and take it away. But, I won."
"So you did, Gib." Cole took a step forward, but marionette-man hunkered over the box like it was his heir.
Cole took another step. "Where's Mr. Edwards?"
"He took a vacation. He's probably sipping Mai Tais on the shores of Maui right now."
"That's a quick trip."
"Yes, anything is possible when you use your imagination. You two are particularly familiar with that, aren't you? Losing yourselves in a slightly altered unreality."
Kaylyn shook her head and stumbled backward. For a dimwit, he had down the creepy intuition and dictionary memorization.
